Off the grid properties in Vermont can be classified into two catagories, those that have no access to the power grid and those that have access to the power grid but choose to produce their own energy. Many homeowners have bought a desirable parcel of land and after reviewing building site locations, have chosen to built in a spot that would be very expensive to bring in power.
